Very privileged to be leading the fantastic team at the Marine Conservation Society now, I'm an environmental lawyer by training - though not practising now. I have been working in or with the non-profit sector since 2001, and on marine conservation since around 2008.Some of my key areas of focus have been fisheries management, marine protected areas and sustainable seafood, with a little bit of whaling, oil drilling and other cross-cutting environmental law issues (such as access to justice and environmental liability) thrown in.Connecting people with the sea and conveying my passion for the value of the marine environment is what I I thrive on, as well as the challenge of using science and law creatively as a tool to bring about change to protect the marine environment. Before working for environmental organisations, I obtained an LLM at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London (SOAS), worked at a number of London City law firms in environmental, corporate and commercial departments and in-house as a regulation/environmental law solicitor at Anglian Water.
