In her role at Genentech, she provides education on central line care and management to more than 50 hospitals in NC. Clinicians and colleagues alike trust her expertise, and enjoy her caring and positive personality.Central line management is a huge responsibility. "No patient gets admitted to a hospital without an IV" Sandy says. When patients have a central line, it often delivers life-saving medications. With more than 30 years in clinical health care, Sandy is one of 3400 certified infusion nurses in the world and a leader in her field. She has developed world-class education programs on catheter management and innovative central line care simulations.Her collaborative nature helps her to excel at training and mentoring, sharing her knowledge and developing thought leaders.Sandy knew she wanted to be in healthcare from high school on, and the move from nursing to helping with patient outcomes as an industry representative came naturally to her. Before starting with Genentech in 2006, she was a Medical Science Liaison with Novo Nordisk. She has also worked as a Clinical Educator for home care companies. Prior to that, she served in hospitals as a Registered Nurse in ICU and as Director of Infusion Therapy Services.She is currently a Senior Clinical Specialist for clot-busting products at Genentech. She loves using her vast nursing knowledge and experience to improve patients' lives. To Sandy, being recognized as a Genentech IMPACT All-Star is just icing on the cake.
