Manager Of Human ResourcesMingle Analytics May 2015 - PresentSouth Paris, MaineWithin a few months of joining Mingle Analytics, it became clear to everyone that there was more of a role for HR than was originally envisioned. The promotion to Manager of Human Resources has allowed me to put to use all of my experience in various HR roles and step into the strategic realm officially for the first time. Being part of an early stage company means there is no shortage of challenges, and they change rapidly. Add to that the fact that our workforce quickly became predominantly remote, in multiple states. I certainly couldn't do it alone! The key to success I believe to be in building a trusted team comprised of both an expanded internal HR team and external vendor partners who understand our needs and can serve to enhance our functional resources. In my first few months, I hired an assistant that I knew I could trust to handle the day to day administrative tasks for me. Together we implemented a suite of HR/Payroll solutions to assist us with everything from applicant tracking, to electronic onboarding of new employees, to HR functions and payroll processing. We've since added online tools to help us gauge employee engagement via weekly pulse surveys and handle employee performance through regular 1:1 meetings between employees and supervisor that are focused on actionable goals that are aligned to both department and organizational goals and strategies. We've recently made changes in our benefit partners to maximize what we are able to offer our employees in both benefits and education to help them make the right choices for their individual circumstances. My certification as a SHRM-SCP marked a deliberate step my part to embrace the start of a transition in my career toward a more strategic role. I'll always be hands on, we all are here at MA, but growing a company means being deliberate about picking our heads up out of the weeds and looking ahead to what comes next.I'm looking forward to continued growth, mine and the company's! Hr Generalist/BookkeeperMingle Analytics Jan 2015 - May 2015South Paris, MaineSeeking new challenges and an opportunity to get out of my silo and once again wrap my arms around the HR function in a generalist role, I jumped at the opportunity to join Mingle Analytics who then described themselves as an early-start company. Within a few weeks it was clear that this company was going to grow rapidly and a single generalist also balancing a role in accountants payable wasn't going to be enough! -
Benefits & Safety SupervisorOxford Casino Jul 2014 - Jan 2015Oxford, MaineAfter 9 months of balancing responsibilites in both the HR and Finance Departments, I have officially stepped back to let someone else take the lead in payroll. My new position is a return to benefits administration for me with the added new challenges of risk and safety including worker's comp, guest liability and facilitation of the company safety program. -
Employment & Payroll CoordinatorOxford Casino Nov 2013 - Jul 2014Oxford, MaineWhen Churchill Downs Inc, acquired Oxford Casino and moved some of the reponsibility of payroll to the corporate offices, I was found myself faced with time on my hands for the first time in nearly two years. Never one to be idle, I accepted the challenge of balancing recruitment & onboarding responsibilities for HR while continuing to coordinate the payroll process at the building level. The return to HR has allowed me to return to my roots as an advocate for the employees. -
Payroll CoordinatorOxford Casino Mar 2012 - Nov 2013Oxford, MaineJust months before opening I was hired and tasked with developing and implementing the processes and procedures for a full cycle biweekly payroll. In a few short months we went from processing just over a dozen employees on Quickbooks Online to processing over 400 employees on an internal system utilizing Kronos and Infinium. I feel very fortunate to have been given the rare opportunity to experience both the challenge and success that comes from building a department from scratch.
