• Investigated the complete mechanism of noise generation from the dynamics of the working fluid to the structure- and air-borne sound in external gear pumps• Developed the simulation model to predict the vibroacoustic field of external gear pumps with the finite and boundary element method (FEM and BEM) using ANSYS and MATLAB• Validated the simulation model against experimental measurement conducted in the semi-anechoic chamber at Maha Fluid Power Research Center.• Built experimental test setup using LabVIEW and DAQ system for the experimental modal analysis (impact test) and operational deflection shapes, and develop the post-processing toolbox using MATLAB• Evaluated the overall efficiency and noise performance of hydraulic pumps in the semi-anechoic chamber based on the ISO standards (ISO 16902-1 and ISO 9614-1) for six different industrial sponsors• Presented research progress in weekly group meetings and semi-annual research seminars to the Maha lab, as well as industrial sponsors, conferences, and publications.• Managed the website of the Maha lab as a webmaster

• Developed a method to estimate noise/vibration contribution of electronics components in smartphones using nearfield acoustic holography (NAH).

• Explored the effect of bubbles on the active noise control (ANC) in water-filled pipes, and compared three active noise control schemes (pressure, energy density, and intensity control) in terms of their robustness to varying in pipe conditions (bubble content)• Set up a design guide for a robust active silencer, fabricated the active silencer, and achieved reduction of noise (average 6-20 dB) in water-filled pipes• Designed and fabricated a thin tile projector for low-frequency underwater active echo control, and achieved 3-7 dB echo reduction in the underwater test• Developed an automatic acoustic measurement system for the extremely low-level circuit board noise (below 30 dB) using nearfield acoustic holography (NAH), and evaluated the noise performance based on psychoacoustics• Designed and fabricated flexible acoustic energy harvesters using PDMS polymers and PVDF film
