The two programs work with the communities in Darjeeling region of North Bengal to improve their quality of life through health, economic development, youth and infrastructure initiatives. The two programs reached out to a total of over 24,000 beneficiaries covering over 60 communities.• As a part of the grants to local partners program successfully supported “Shanker” Foundation a network of people living with HIV/AIDS through organizational development, opportunistic infection treatment and extension education program. • Designed and led the successful $ 100,000 small framers program “Organic Ekta” which has now become an independent 400 strong member organization representing the rights of small famer’s tea growers in North East India. • Sanjay led the networking and advocacy for Mercy Corps by successfully working with various community based organizations and local NGOs, district and national level government bodies like District Rural Development Cell, State Land Reforms Department, various Block and Sub Divisional development offices, Darjeeling Tea Association, Tea Board of India and the National Agricultural Development Bank of India. He helped develop and foster relation with Major Tea companies at the plantation level and at higher management level.
