I am working in the field of Cellular Immunology', specifically dendritic cells (DCs). My primary research goals are directed towards understanding the molecular events that leads to the activation of CD4 T cells by DCs. Specifically I am interested in understanding the mechanisms of clustering of Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) Class II molecules on the surface of DCs, which is important for the efficient activation of CD4 T cells.

Studied the mechanisms of destruction of erythrocytes in the blood circulation of mice. I explored the role of CD47 and CD147 expression and phosphatidylserine externalization on the surface of erythrocytes in the clearance of erythrocytes from the circulation. I developed a simple yet robust in vivo method - Double in vivo Biotinylation (DIB) - to track erythrocytes of a defined age group in blood circulation. This method allowed us to study age-related changes in erythrocytes in circulation in real time, which had not been feasible with previously available techniques. This innovative work has been widely appreciated. One of my publications from this work was also selected by FACULTY of 1000 (2008) with the highest impact factor.
