After gaining work experience in various countries, I returned with a dream of addressing the prevalent issue of absenteeism of domestic help in residential and commercial sectors. I noticed that many people in my apartment would panic when their regular maid didn't turn up for work, and I realized that this was a problem faced by many others as well. Drawing from my past project experience in dealing with workers, I decided to take matters into my own hands and find a solution.I started by providing on-demand maid services in my apartment. I recruited maids after proper background verifications and trained them to work efficiently. To my surprise, people were willing to pay these trained maids better than the average rate.However, I faced numerous challenges along the way. It was a tough journey. But I was determined and took on each challenge one by one, learning from my experiences and growing stronger.With time, I expanded my vision and created an application-based online marketplace with a trademark name"Hire An Hour". The platform allowed people to search and book maids, attendants, drivers, etc. The service providers were paid on an hourly basis, and the model proved to be a hit.In 2022,"Hire an Hour" was recognized as one of the best 25 startups out of 3000 startups from within and outside of India in the prestigious "Innopreneurs-2022 Contest" held in Nagpur conducted by Lemon School of Entrepreneurship. This recognition boosted my confidence.I am now into establishing hub centers all around Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, where aspiring entrepreneurs are onboarding service providers. The revenue generated from the platform is shared between the service providers, hub centers, and the platform, creating a sustainable business model.By 2024, I am expecting to expand the platform to other cities in India with fund supports.My innovative startup model not only solves the problem of absenteeism of domestic help, but also creates employment opportunities for blue-collar workers and empowering local entrepreneurs.My vision is to tackle the issue of migration of blue-collar workers and related sufferings. I believe that my platform could provide a sustainable solution by creating employment opportunities of blue collar workers in their own cities.I am determined to make "Hire An Hour" a household name in India, and create a positive impact on the lives of both service providers and customers alike.
