✔Strategy Formulation The starting strategy of focusing on Journalists' capacity building proved to be a meaningful and path breaking for north Indian journalists. Insistence on sustained efforts also delivered results that were well acknowledged by UNDP India.✔Project Designing Samyak focused on projects that involved intense field activity. Engaging senior and committed journalists for these projects was the strength well capitalized.✔Project Implementation✔Journalists Training Taking journalists training out of seminar halls was best exemplified in the UNDP-TAHA-SAMYAK project on HIV/AIDS. Mindset change, particularly, of journalists in a short span of 4 months interaction was a tough challenge. It did happen. Training of more than 1500 journalists in Indian states and in Nepal, Bangladesh was facilitated by Samyak in collaboration with NACO, UNDP, Action Aid.✔Project Documentation✔Report Writing✔Content Analysis Got the content analysis of the reporting of Bihar media on HIV related issues done for using it as a tool of point to point comparison before and after the training and exposure visits under UNDP-TAHA-SAMYAK project.✔Publication A unique type of publication resulted out of one project in which journalists, activists, media trainers, persons living with HIV narrated their experiences, Life sketches of a few ex sex workers, ladies living in the locality of sex workers and a daughter of the "Red Light Area" were documented, apart from showcasing selected photographs from a training of sex workers in still photography. The book titled SAFAR is till date one of its kind in Hindi.✔Incubating CBOs Incubated two all women CBO, Abhyuday in NCR and Parcham in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Co-produced another one-to-one chat show on current affairs whose more than 100 episodes were telecast on Doordarshan.✔DocumentariesProduced, scripted and directed many documentaries for governmental and non governmental agencies. Also directed, scripted a very popular documentary series on cities for Doordarshan.✔Business News for AIRCo-produced and also handled journalistic operations of a Daily business News for AIR. ✔ DocumentationPublished a vibrant document of the all encompassing, multi centred work done by the organization during the last over 15 years. It was published in Hindi and English simultaneously and was written, edited and photographed by me.✔ Workers' motivationThe legendary founder of DRI, Nanaji Deshmukh, was able to attract an army of yourgsters at Chitrakoot. Projects on Health, Rural Industrialization, Education, Agriculture were coming up and to keep the younger team enthused with mission was a fundamental necessity. A core team was formed for this and I was the youngest member of that team.✔ Audio Visual UnitTaking the audio Visual unit of DRI to its next level was tasked upon me. Building the team and then taking up the mammoth task of documenting the life and travails of the 50 Km radial area of Chitrakoot was undertaken and a few documentaries were produced out of that material. ✔ Publication✔ Education for Tribal children One of the major responsibilities was organizing innovative and relevant to life education for tribal children as DRI was running two residential schools for tribal children. Drawing from the wisdom of Gandhi, Aurobindo, Giju Bhai and Hoshangabad experiment on education, Eklavya, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science, Mumbai etc. and implementing the adopted techniques on ground was tasked upon me. ✔ IT for rural education Was mandated to design and then run an innovative project under NFE scheme of central government to use IT for rural education. Curriculum was adapted into amusing stories in lyrical format with complete rural life examples and graphic programming for Audio Visual CDs. The project was appreciated by NCERT. ✔ Teachers training✔ Educational Research Centre To develop relevant to life education for tribal and rural children, DRI set up an educational research centre at Chitrakoot under my convenor-ship, under the philosophical guidance of Nanaji Deshmukh.

Started my journalistic career with NBT as trainee. Was promoted as Sub Editor before the completion of stipulated one year as a reward of exceptional performance. Stared doing political, science and cultural reporting during training. ✔ Reported Science Congress session in LKO and 3-5 stories per day single-handedly while competitors put 2-3 reporters for the task.✔ Reported the first of its kind communal violence in UP villages ( the Karnailganj, Gonda riots). One full page of the paper was devoted for the news.✔ Predicted and reported the violence in the 1991 elections in constituency of then UP CM, Mulayam Singh. This resulted in EC ordering re-polling in the constituency.✔ Many cultural reports were published in half page space and full page.✔ Did investigative reporting after working for 3-4 months on Giri Institute of Developmental Studies exposing the high handedness of its founder Director and developmental economist TS Papola.✔ Did regular special reports on Science related developments.✔ Was never a regular reporter as my main responsibility was of Sub Editor but self initiative and congenial work culture at NBT LKO facilitated honing of reporting skills.
