About Sanjay Mande

I have about 20 years of experience in the field of renewable energy specific to various aspects related to biomass gasification. i.e. techical, environmental and social aspects. The main highlights of experience can be briefly summarised as: (1) Technology Development for thermal applications: The R&D efforts for design and development of biomass gasifier based technology for applications like cardamom drying, mahuwa drying, cocoon boiling, etc. The downdraft and updraft gasifier systems were developed and disseminated in the field. At present about 250 systems are operational for cardamom drying in Sikkim. The credit lies with 3 patents for the technologies being developed for various applications.(2) Technology Development for power generation: The R&D efforts were focused for development of downdraft system with cooling cleaning train to run IC engines with 100% producer gas and duel fuel mode. The DDG projects based on 100% producer gas and duel fuel mode have been executed in Srilanka, South Africa and rural villages in various part of the country. The efforts are now on towards development of two stage gasifier systems for generation of ultra pure producer gas for maintenance free operation of IC engines.(3) GHG accounting and CDM: the experience lies with national inventory preparation of GHG emissions from combustion devices in India based on actual GHG measurement studies, country studies for developed and least developed country studies (Bhutan) and development of PDDs for GHG mitigation potential by implementation of biomass gasifier replacing fossil fuel for various thermal and power generation applications. Presently managing the aspect of carrying forward the VESP (village energy security program) test projects to program mode using PoA CDM.Specialties: Program Implementation, Management, Technology Development, Technical calculations, Techno-economic studies of technology development and execution, environmental concerns and estimations are a few of my key expertise skillsets
