Conducted Advanced Process Control (APC) economic feasibility studies for Refinery Process Units (Crude Units, Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU), Catalytic Reformers (CCR), Hydrotreaters), Ethylene Plants, Specialty Chemical Plants, Gas Plants, Fractionation Plants, Offshore production platforms and Pulp & Paper plants. Estimated cost of implementing (including labor, hardware and software) and project schedule for proposal generation. Led APC projects in the above process units.Conducted an APC feasibility study for entire refinery to justify refinery modernization and central control room project (based on the benefits to be derived from APC). This led to one of the largest single automation project order win for Honeywell at the time. The project delivered the benefits that exceeded customer's expectation. (was lead engineer for some of the APC projects).Implemented APC on an offshore production platform, resulting in 4% increase in production from the platform. The payback for the project was in the order of days.Implemented a non-linear real-time optimization solution for gasoline blending application, increasing refinery gasoline production in excess of 5% (and at reduced cost). Further created a vision for the customer for a refinery wide real-time optimization. This solution was implemented, increasing refinery's profitability.
