I have worked with semiconductor companies like, Intel, Texas Instruments and Samsung, I was also privileged to work with couple of leading-edge technology startups including AI chip (Wave Computing) and Montalvo systems (low power processor startup). Apart from these two categories of companies I developed my own company in EdTech domain (AI based personalised learning), I was part of core team to build an AI chip back in 2015-2017 (we were early) and led silicon engineering team, played critical roles for development and optimisation of PPA for AI chip (Coarse grained reconfigurable array of 16k PEs @ 6.7 GHz). Apart from my horizontal breadth of working and understanding of across domains in Semiconductor, I have deep expertise in building SRAM memory, Compute in Memory (Digital and Analog CIM’s) for MVM (DNN’s). I have good understanding of HPC and AI system, architectures of accelerators for heterogenous compute and has deep interest for optimisation of PPAC (power, performance, area and cost). Currently holding differentiated ideas and architectures for accelerator optimisations using CIMs to optimise MAC operations and other ideas from software workload optimisations. I had built teams across different domains, verticals and efficient in executing complex programs, scaling and delivering high-pressure cutting-edge programs for Semiconductor domain. Over the time I have developed good understanding of Semiconductor business, strategy, programs, development/building of high performing teams for cutting edge analog/digital domains. Due to my EdTech work, I developed good understanding of the AGI and software domains and these skills makes me unique in connecting the architectural workload requirements for AI domain with actual implementations for Chip Architecture and circuits/technologies for optimising heterogeneous computes. My Key Skills and interest for Semiconductor: 1. Leadership roles for Foundry business2. AI Chips and HPC domain3. Any leadership roles across verticalsFor above functions, I can be instrumental for building & managing teams across verticals, Customer interactions and engagements, technology developments and interface, leadership roles across functions/domains, IP developments, PPA Benchmarking of IP’s, SOC’s and scope identifications, working with engineering teams to enable them towards competitive designs, manage complex programs efficiently for a larger team etc. For Heterogeneous compute I can be instrumental for development and optimisation of accelerators chips (Compute in memory, DNN algorithms etc).

FounderWww.Edusaksham.Com Aug 2019 - Mar 2022Bengaluru Area, IndiaMy EdTech startup was based on usage of AI for personalised learning, while developing it gave me great insight for use of Generative AI applications and I was privileged to work with some of the brightest mind who had done more than 3 decades of work in the AI field and marketing field etc. We worked on video-based search, developed an AI textbook with unique and powerful techniques for generating automatic question from any text, AI based engine for solving questions (different and innovative approach than current question solver engines), use of a personalised trained AI machine to be the personalised tutor for every student using voice etc. My EdTech was self funded by me (significant investment), we built a strong team, wrote couple of patents for personalised learning using AI, worked on developing business, did several POC’s to take my company to the market. I was definitely successful in many ways but my mission was a failure as I couldn’t deliver what I desired. Any goal to be successful it has various dependencies and sometime timing is very critical to get the desired result. Investors in the markets were very bullish about one company which raised massive capital (several Billion Dollars) and currently seeing rough weather. I wanted to build AI based personalised learning to ensure each and every child learns to best of their abilities. Concept was very similar to use of multi-modal AI which integrates text, speech and videos. This journey which was different in some way were very important for me, it gave me a good understanding of the software domains, use of AI applications, marketing, digital marketing, sales, interactions with leaders from different domains, building teams for different verticals, interacting with VC’s and pitching the idea (tremendous learning although I was a fail to attract desired investment and take my company to commercial success). I could prove various POC's but couldn't scale my business due to lack of desired capital.

Consultancy (Semiconductor Design)Individual Consultancy Oct 2017 - Aug 2019I worked with Invecas (Soctronics) and I was responsible for deploying a very large team built by me earlier and integrating them successfully, retaining and making them comfortable and resonating in the new environment and helping them grow to their full potential ensuring Invecas team deliverables were met and they were successful to meet their commitments due to this team contributions. The built team was across different domains, front end, verification, SRAM Design/layout, Foundation IP Design layout and char team. I worked very closely with the Bangalore site head and also with the senior leadership teams of the company to assist as per their engineering needs and deliverables. I was also responsible for working with their outstanding SRAM memory leaders across sites Bangalore, Hyderabad, US and their outsourced companies engineering teams. I had played key role to mentor the India team, outsourced team to help them integrate successfully with my team, and further mentored them to build a high performing team which later got acquired by one of the leading semiconductor company. From the technology side I helped teams to converge and create design methodologies, circuit styles, PPA Benchmarking, architectural trade-offs, alignment and executions of SRAM memory compilers across different technologies, program executions, managing resources etc.

Director Of Circuits And Physical ImplementationsSpontey Computer Systems Private Limited (Worked For Wave Computing, Ai Chip) Feb 2015 - Sep 2017I was silicon engineering group and site head, was responsible for development of a coarse grain reconfigurable AI chip, 16k Processing elements, 16nm @6.7 GHz of working silicon was achieved as a result. It was a short and very exciting time given the volume of work we had to accomplish for this chip. I was responsible for development of custom blocks of the chips which was part of the cluster and I owned end to end development cycle of this promising AI chip. It was indeed a new and customised design required for optimising the repetitive cluster. We had to design Instruction RAM to be working at 10 Ghz, DataRam macro, register files of variable sizes and features, FIFO's. These designs required many architectural innovations and these macros had pretty much all rich features required which I see in latest Custom CPU designs of all bigger HPC players. Implementation was highly involved, but we were blessed to be part of a team built by a genius processor architect, for him nothing was impossible and he was very courageous. Working under his leadership gave the courage to build from scratch many innovative IP's, circuits, design methodologies, custom static timing analysis flows, custom ESPCV apart from the regular flows.Apart from above technical deliveries I was also responsible to supervise and ramp other custom blocks, physical implementation team, front end and verification teams and oversee the overall efficiencies of the programs. I played key roles of working very closely with the chip architects and other engineering leaders to optimise the PPA of the Clusters. There were many bottlenecks and challenges in the chip which was collectively solved by us with a significant contributions from my end.My key skills: 1. Learnt a lot for AI chip architectures2. Have deep architectural understanding and knowledge of differentiated circuit styles for Matrix vector multiplications (MAC)3. Exceptional capabilities of building high end engineering teams

Project LeadTexas Instruments May 2008 - Dec 2013Bengaluru Area, IndiaWorking with Texas instrument was a complete different experience. It was like working with a larger company but with freedom to implement and innovate ideas like a startup. It was great and I was very fortunate to be part of TI engineering team, a team with very strong technical capabilities backed by fine execution and management skills. Some of the work executed here is foundational for my excellence in delivering complex design programs, technology interface for Foundry business needs, Benchmarking of IP's and working with Engineering teams for implementing the needs for the customers. At TI, it was a very focused technical work to develop various types of SRAM memory compilers, multi-ports, register files, multi-bank, ROM memories etc -
Staff EngineerMontalvo Systems Feb 2006 - May 2008Bengaluru Area, IndiaMy work with Montalvo systems was an extension of what I did at Intel but it was more deeper and wider and majority of the development was new with full of learnings. I worked as a project leader and manager for custom circuit designs, development of associated methodologies, flows etc. We were responsible for L1, L2 Cache, register files and other custom block developments. I developed custom macros and other custom circuits as required, the development work involved creating schematics, analysing the designs on paper, doing initial sims and sizing, architectural trade-off analysis, circuit design, working closely with layout teams, working on the functional verifications, we used LEC instead of ESPCV, Verilog model development, verification of cdl compared to Verilog, Verilog model verifications, timing closures, doing char and delivering final views as required for the full chip timing, noise, EMIR and other signoff checks. I also worked on development of read, write margin methodologies, Sense amp design and SADIFF methodologies and methodologies for closure of internal races in this custom design. I was also responsible for reviewing and analysing SER and associated methodologies. Let me share more details about Montalvo systems and my associated learnings, how it has helped me shape into a decent Engineering leader I am today. Montalvo had brought together some of the best minds still we couldn't see the desired success, journey was exciting and full of learning. More details about the company can be reviewed here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montalvo_SystemsMy key learnings 1. Got early exposure of working in a promising startup of its time2. Time bounded execution across teams matters a lot for company's success 3. Technical strength is important but its a small part of the development cycle4. At this company I was more in a transition phase of my journey from doing engineering delivery to understanding the overall eco system of chip design. -
Senior Design EngineerIntel 2002 - Jan 2006Bengaluru Area, IndiaIntel was like a startup in India when I joined Intel back in 2002. I was part of the custom circuit team and we were responsible for building Cache, register file, building the initial Floorplan and exploring optimisation scopes etc for the processor we were working on. I was responsible for designing Tag Cache, apart from that I was responsible for deploying Noise methodologies, studying Inductive effects for full chip routing, clock routing and timing methodologies etc. Processor design was new and exciting for us, we were thoroughly trained for Computer architectures, roles for memory and memory hierarchies, various circuit design styles for high performance compute architecture, optimisation needs and various other parameters needed for processor design. We had been trained and given opportunities to work on STA timing tools, Noise tools and other internal tools required for the processor development flow. I had developed good understandings for basics for VLSI field while doing my Masters at IIT Bombay and had gone very deep on Semiconductor device, electronics, Solid state physics during my courses at IIT Kanpur apart from many other exciting advance courses we were taught. Intel really built us very strong and given and trained on many other engineering and soft skills apart from the processor design the much hyped and exciting work at that time. Some of the leadership behaviour shown by the Engineering managers is deep rooted in me and I am highly obliged and salute the contributions done by the Intel leadership team to build a site from ground zero to become a centre of excellence it is today. -
