Hi there! I’m a passionate advocate for climate resilience and sustainability. My journey started over a decade ago in my home state of Kerala, where I saw firsthand how communities—especially those in rural and coastal areas—can be both vulnerable to climate challenges and powerful agents of change. As the CEO of Sustera Foundation, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside inspiring young people, grassroots leaders, and climate advocates. We started small, but with a big vision: to equip everyday people with the tools and support they need to lead climate action in their communities. From developing the Climate Leadership Program, which now has an incredible network of young changemakers, to launching participatory climate finance projects (tribegenre.com) that fund community-led energy and restoration initiatives, it’s been a journey fueled by resilience, collaboration, and a shared love for our planet. My work has taken me across many dimensions of climate action. I’ve coordinated coastal clean-ups, led ecosystem restoration projects, created climate educational programs, built a startup for upcycled products and even organized marathons to raise awareness and funds. Each experience has expanded my understanding of climate resilience, from local governance and policy to hands-on community engagement. I’ve worn many hats—project manager, fundraiser, trainer, and communicator—and I find joy in learning and adapting to meet each challenge.Whether I’m in the field working with communities, drafting strategies, training people or collaborating with partners, I’m driven by a belief that climate action must be inclusive and accessible. I love exploring new ways to make sustainability relatable and impactful, and I’m always looking for new connections and ideas to bring positive change.

Director Of OperationsBhava Social Venture Sep 2017 - Jan 2021Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, InBhava, a pioneering social enterprise co-founded by myself and two dedicated partners, has been a driving force in transforming the lives of women in Kerala's Vembanad region. Faced with the dual challenges of dwindling fish populations due to climate change and pollution, and the environmental menace of cloth and plastic waste in water bodies, Bhava emerged as a beacon of innovative solutions. Our flagship initiative, aimed at participatory conservation of the wetland ecosystem, embarked on an ambitious mission to reduce plastic waste, restore ecological balance, bolster local climate governance, and achieve energy sustainability. The ingenious idea to repurpose beautiful Indian sarees into eco-friendly bags not only curbed cloth waste pollution but also provided an alternate income source for women from the fishing community.By engaging these resilient women in crafting cloth bags from pre-owned fabric, Bhava succeeded in delivering an additional livelihood to over 80 women and upcycling a remarkable 30,000+ kg of cloth waste. The impact was felt not just in terms of waste reduction but also in the socio-economic empowerment of these women, fortifying their resilience in the face of environmental challenges. The journey, however, encountered an unexpected hurdle due to the COVID-19 crisis. With a momentary pause in operations spanning nearly three years, Bhava's commendable efforts were temporarily suspended.Through the project, we were also able to support indigenous people from Wayanad involved in bamboo craft by selling their produce. We also were able to support other women entrepreneurs involved in upcycling from across Kerala. The project was presented at the Asia Pacific Climate Week hosted at UNESCAP in Bangkok. -
