Hybrid Vehicle Engineer- Usdot Dual-Drive Project
Developed and built one of the world's first plug-in gasoline-electric hybrid conversions on a Ford E-series platform. The project was funded by the US Department of Transportation.A full size Ford E-150 van was retrofitted with a Dual-Drive Plug-in Hybrid system which was developed, engineered and fabricated at FDU. Engineered and installed the powertrain mechanical interface, the battery pack, Battery Management System (BMS) and proprietary charging system. Calibrated the electric drivetrain software to optimize the vehicle's performance. The greatest challenge of this project was the powertrain design, component integration and calibration.
Machine Shop Manager
Designed, developed and installed a prototyping machine shop equipped with CNC and manual turning and milling capabilities. Installed and worked on 3-D SLA prototyping machines and their interface to various popular 3-D modeling software. Serviced equipment as necessary and trained staff and students on equipment setup and operation. Ensured that the shop complied with current OSHA safety regulations and workers compensation safety compliance.
