RBL Bank is a story of digital modernization. RBL Bank was already on its digital-first journey when I joined but their approach was buit on the top of legacy, non-digital-native tech stack that was showing its limits. In the last few years at RBL I have worked with internal and external partners to modernize to a true digital native stack everything from infrastructure to core banking. I led one of the fastest transformations of a bank in India to cloud - 40 production applications in 40 days - an AWS case study. I worked closely with Finacle to redesign the core banking to a containerised version that provides true a digital native stack and throughputs to match - we are the first implementation of this in India. We're also transforming other core systems from legacy stack to containerised, cloud-native, high-throughput stacks. In four years these transformations have brought us dramatic improvements in error rates, upto 80x increase in throughputs for some kinds of transactions and much faster turnarounds.Continuing my passion for transforming ways of working, we've run over forty 10X programs in RBL, taking existing systems and practices and producing 10X improvements - either in throughput, error rates, complain tickets or other concrete ways - by transforming the way things are done rather than with new investment.

As head of new projects for NSE, I led the transformation agenda. I initiated their move to a new clearing & settlement system, a new index system, a new SAAS broker front office and a new surveillance system. I also led the innovation agenda, making NSE a leader in experimenting with AI and blockchains in the Indian capital markets.While in NSE, one of my most prominent projects was 100x in 100 days - a reingineering of the matching system using in-memory technology that was implemented in just over three months and delivered 100x improvements in latency and throughput.

I headed cloud and mobility for India, expanding Accenture's offerings in these areas to Indian clients. In addition, I worked for outsourcing deals in financial services and pharma. With wins in Dr. Reddys, Star TV, SBI and others I exceeded my targets by 250% and expanded Accenture's mobility and cloud presence to over $30m a year from a near zero base.While in Accenture I did two very exciting projects. The first was the early version of Hotstar, which was launched on the cloud in one of the earliest scale OTT plays in India, and went on to become one of the world's largest. The second was the Digital Banking Strategy consulting assignment for DBS Bank, many elements of which DBS Bank took to great heights.

My focus in the role was to transform the company's IT organization from its startup roots into one capable of reliably servicing over a thousand offices nationwide and nearly a million clients. And we need to do this while keeping alive the flexibility and agility that enabled IIFL to get here in the first place.In my stint, we made huge strides in availability and customer satisfaction. Complain rates are at historic lows, and availability became over 99% across a huge and widely diverse nationwide branch network. Incident rates were at an average of 0.2% of daily connected users. Turnaround times on development requests improved from 60+ days to under 30.Key achievements:1. A substantial shift of production to the cloud, increasing service levels and flexibility dramatically2. Strategic outsourcing greatly stabilised our operations. Issues went down by 90% or more, and capacity utilisation improved across the board.3. FutureBazaar is part of the Future Group - India's largest retail chain operator. I led this company from launch to India's largest virtual retailer in 2008, with revenues for financial year ending March-09 of over Rs 120 crore.Key Achievements:1. Raising funds from Sherpalo and Kleiner Perkins2. Achieving market leadership and a turnover of Rs.120Cr in ($25m in 2009)

Consulted with clients on technology trends and issues in the areas of Internet, SOA, and Microsoft Technologies. Authored the Mphasis Outsourcing Strategy Evaluation Methodology (MOSEM) and contributed to founding the Mphasis Application Portfolio Services (MAPS) practice.Worked with financial sector giants Charles Schwab, JP Morgan, Capital One and Reuters on multiple consulting and architecture assignments.Key Achievements1. Architect of DOX, a multi-award-winning project at JP Morgan Chase and one of the earliest large scale implementations of AJAx anywhere.2. A successful Agile implementation at Capital One Auto Finance.3. Development of the MOSEM methodology to evaluate what applications can benefit from outsourcing and which ones are best left alone.

As part of my responsibilities in TDA Capital Partners, I became the head of marketing for Decacnet, an investee of TDA. Deccanet had great engineering and some good intellectual property but was going through troubled times. No pipeline, no sales visibility and cost pressure from their single major customer; it was struggling to survive.This company was focused on the telecom - a sector that went through a major downturn in 2001-2. In spite of that, in the two years under me the company managed to increase pipeline visibility, gain customers in every geography, a sales increase of 400% and achieved profitability on a shoestring marketing budget. The company was later acquired at a premium by Flextronics.

Helped evaluate investments for TDA, especially in the IT space. Headed marketing for an investee company - Deccanet. Set up sales processes, built pipeline, turned around the lossmaking company and increased sales by 400%. It was later sold to Flextronics at an attractive valuation for TDA.

Co-founded this horizontal portal in 1999, and raised a large portion of its capital. Took it to 100 people and India's 3rd most popular portal in a year (Alexa rankings), beating many bigger players with much larger budgets. Built a profitable web solutions business that still survives.Helped build Shopperstop.com, the e-commerce presence of Shoppers Stop, one of India's largest retail chains.
