I fell in love with computers at fifteen, while discovering that teaching at a local computer training institute would be very good pocket money. That early fascination with computers and what they could do never left me. My passion today is digital transformation, especially in the financial sector. I spend my time persuading IT teams to shift to digital native and produce business outcomes that are 10x better. I've persuaded team after team to do just that at scale. My core strength is driving the traditional past towards a modern, high performance present - through digital transformation and changed ways of working. Taking advantage of a broad and somewhat maverick set of career experiences, I bring digital native thinking and the ability to challenge the accepted. My opportunity is the huge shifts in paradigm that are happening in tech, where staying with the as-is often proves a huge competitive disadvantage. In the course of my career, I have built tech-centric businesses, e-commerce leaders, mobile trading applications, capital market solutions and banking transformations. I’ve advised on outsourcing effectiveness, digital transformation and some very successful cloud deployments. I've managed large IT setups with hundreds of offices, thousands of different kinds of devices and billions of real time transactions. I’ve spoken, written and presented extensively on e-commerce, mobile, cloud, development methodologies, strategic outsourcing and the changing world of online and social media. I'm a former marathoner, part-time visual designer, obsessive reader and infrequent foodblogger who spends a lot of time on a bicycle - most recently a solo trip across Japan.

RBL Bank was already on its digital-first journey when I joined but their approach was buit on the top of legacy, non-digital-native tech stack that was showing its limits. In the last few years at RBL I have worked with internal and external partners to modernize to a true digital native stack everything from infrastructure to core banking. I led one of the fastest transformations of a bank in India to cloud - 40 production applications in 40 days - an AWS case study. I worked closely with Finacle to redesign the core banking to a containerised version that provides true a digital native stack and throughputs to match - we are the first implementation of this in India. We're also transforming other core systems from legacy stack to containerised, cloud-native, high-throughput stacks. In four years these transformations have brought us dramatic improvements in error rates, upto 80x increase in throughputs for some kinds of transactions and much faster turnarounds.Continuing my passion for transforming ways of working, we've run over forty 10X programs in RBL, taking existing systems and practices and producing 10X improvements - either in throughput, error rates, complain tickets or other concrete ways - by transforming the way things are done rather than with new investment. -

I initiated their move to a new clearing & settlement system, a new index system, a new SAAS broker front office and a new surveillance system. I also led the innovation agenda, making NSE a leader in experimenting with AI and blockchains in the Indian capital markets.While in NSE, one of my most prominent projects was 100x in 100 days - a reingineering of the matching system using in-memory technology that was implemented in just over three months and delivered 100x improvements in latency and throughput. -
