• To coordinate all the R&D activities. • Development of R&D plan, annual targets (projects, collaborations, patents, and commercialization), and strategy to achieve such targets.• Setting up and monitor the R&D virtual centers, creating and actively running the Research Advisory Council etc.• Building internal team to prepare research Proposals, solicit funding for research programs.• Provide Seed money to the faculty members and students to do back-of-the-envelope results for initial research leading to competitive funding.• Motivating and Ensuring Students’ participation in R&D activities and help in streamlining their project work for patentability.• Leading a group of researchers for innovation of products and processes to ensure that R&D projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the approved quality. • Explore nurture and build international and national collaborations, like funding agencies, Universities, Public-sector undertakings and Industry.• Managing effective strategic alliances with corporate R&D and other academic and research funding organization, both nationally and internationally. • Develop and implement students’ exchange and faculty exchange with international universities by leveraging external and internal resources.• Working with government agencies (NRDC, TIFAC, UCOST) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) firms on various stages of patent filing.• Work with PSUs and Industry to agree on joint PhD program and Institute Chair Positions.• Identify, network and negotiate with industry for technology commercialization. • As a faculty, teaching two courses per academic year, involved in supervising undergraduate and graduate students, and investigating a couple of funded research projects.• Leading and managing a team of researchers to develop and implement R&D projects from idea inception to commercialization. • Overall strategic planning, financial, administration and goal-setting/delivery of the R&D department.
