I have a permanent position as research scientist, leading a group of 10 people. My expertise is on genetic mapping of complex traits and disease by genotyping arrayas and next-generation sequencing. I am also interested in population genetics, including search for selection and population differentiation

My main research is the discovery of genes related to quantitatite traits and complex diseases using the most recent statistical approach known as genome-wide association study. My golden sample is the population involved in the SardiNIA study. More than 6 thousand people genotyped for hundred of thousand variants.

Ann Arbor

I have spent 5 months at Abecasis's group, in Ann Arbor. Indeed, after my period of post doc training, I kept a close collaboration with my former advisor, Goncalo Abecasis. This visiting period was dedicated to learning analysis techniques for sequencing data. I did enjoy being back there

During my two-years fellowship in Michigan I worked on the SardiNIA project under the supervision of Goncalo Abecasis. My skills have improved very much resulting in many scientific publication at high ranking journals.

In this year I learned my background in genetic before leaving for the US experience while doing minor statistical tasks for the Institute's projects.
