Founder, CEO of SimGas, domestic biogas. Which was set-up to design and market mass-produced, affordable and customizable biogas and sanitation systems for households in tropical regions. SimGas was the first biogas company to develop a smart meter and switch for biogas. And the only biogas company to register a carbon program under the UNFCCC. After being the leading distributer of domestic biogas systems in Africa, with 125 employees in The Netherlands (11), Kenya (110), and Tanzania (4), SimGas, sadly, had to stop its activities in early-2019.As entrepreneur, I have:• built a team of A-players that are committed to our mission and culture;• successfully steered the company through several growth stages;• attracted investment from informal and formal investors (> 14 M EUR);• and established a local joint venture with Tanzanian giant, Sumaria Group. As CEO, I was accountable for company strategy, P&L, the finance function, treasury, product development, quality assurance, and market development. I directly reported to the board and shareholders. The management team (CFO, CEO East Africa, CTO, and COO) and the business development team reported to me.I have coordinated internal and external engineering teams in product development, testing, acquisition of production equipment, building of a state-of-the-art injection molding factory in Tanzania (largest machine in Africa), and quality assurance & control. As founders, we built a strong culture based on trust, winning, trailblazing, doing good, and fun.
