As a Senior Research Investigator at Biocon - Bristol Myers Squibb Research & Development Center (BBRC), I lead a team of Scientists for the design, synthesis and purification of novel drug candidates and intermediates for various therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology etc., using synthetic organic chemistry expertise. BBRC is a joint venture between Biocon and Bristol Myers Squibb, two leading global biopharmaceutical companies, that aims to accelerate and enhance the discovery and development of innovative medicines. I have a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, India’s premier institution), and over 3 years of postdoctoral experience from the UHN-University of Toronto (Canada) & University of Oklahoma (USA) - overall 9 years of experience in organic chemistry research and development for Medicinal/Process Chemistry. My core competencies include multi-step synthesis, efficient synthetic route design and implementation, methodology development, catalysis, spectroscopic characterization, and purification of chemical compounds/intermediates using flash chromatography (CombiFlash, Yamazen). I have published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals, received gold medals from Bangalore University (2011), and was also awarded the prestigious Guha Research Medal from IISc (2019).
