As a senior product manager I was tasked with directing four product managers in protecting market share for a portfolio of Oracle database management products. We developed marketing strategies to protect the portfolio in the short term, and an innovation road map to address challenges in the long term. We extended sales pipeline data analysis to more clearly identify trends in sales cycles, deal volatility, and deal profiling.As a product manager I was tasked with orchestrating the release of a new database auditing product through the marketing, development, sales, servicing and support organizations. We gained better than expected traction with global sales. Sales, marketing, servicing and support organizations were trained and supported using a SharePoint product portal. We successfully introduced UX principles into the requirements and specifications processes and engaged local and offshore software development organizations more closely with customers.As a database compliance SME I was tasked with promoting compliance principles and capabilities across multiple database management products.

As a consultant I designed and prototyped web pages for a new mortgage sales application, subsequently providing configuration management and 3rd level help desk services for the web pages, database, and application servers. Provided database administration for the development environment, and created database utilities for data imports and data quality checks on the production environment. Worked extensively with offshore development teams.As a project manager I guided the design and coding of database structures and algorithms for an operational reporting solution that was subsequently ported to a data mart solution. Created processes to rapidly capture new requirements and managed a team of between four to eight database developers along agile lines that deployed solutions in 2 week sprints.As a database operations manager directed staffing, training, technology adoption, operational levels, and regulatory compliance for over 400 Oracle and SQL Server databases supported by sixteen DBAs over four business units. Successfully introduced new database replication, database clustering and data warehousing technologies in high-risk application environments. Developed and integrated SOX compliance requirements into existing database administration work flows that subsequently passed external audits despite very tight project time lines

As a project manager I scoped, designed and directed the development of several client-server and n-tier application extensions aimed at improving product positioning in the enterprise recruiting and staffing market. Application integration extensions were complex as they targeted multiple ERP applications that were highly configurable. Attempts to buy in a complete integration platform proved to be unsuccessful, resulting in the need to build an in-house solution from scratch.The application extensions proved to be robust and flexible yet simple to use despite extensive changes in the underlying core application. We created a configurable and manageable integration architecture and application that retained history and could detect and correct exceptions over extended periods of time. The quality and value of the products were proved in a production implementation with an early adopter customer.I collaborated with customers during analysis and design to cover a wide range of expectations. I worked with sales teams to improve application appeal, influence sales messages, and participate in pre-sales customer calls. I participated in leading XP and HR-XML consortium initiatives that were needed to reduce time to market and improve application extensibility, and spoke at several vendor conferences.

As a database administrator I rolled out and administered the Oracle database supporting a recruiting application. I monitored, patched, tuned, and secured the database on a daily basis. The maintenance of the database was automated to the point that less than six hours of intervention was needed over a period of eighteen months.I used my diagnostic skills to uncover performance bottlenecks coded into the application layer and tuned them to more than double the speed of UI updates. I assisted partner companies in diagnosing PL/SQL issues and conducted computer forensics as part of criminal investigations.As a developer I built VBA interfaces to monitor database performance, and add administration utilities that were not available in the underlying application. I worked with the application vendors to create a custom VBA application extension in less than 25 days.

As a part of the scientific group I led the introduction of IT into the organization, including hardware, operating system, databases and programing languages. I established geographic information systems and designed and coded scientific applications using database, GIS and programming tools.I mastered a wide range of hardware and software skills needed to support mainframe, UNIX, and PC based systems running multiple generations of GIS, DBMS and programming tools, and established standards and processes to accelerate their adoption across the organization.I mastered the technical and theoretical aspects of GIS and relational databases, becoming a founder member and executive of the regional GIS user group. I was a speaker at numerous conferences and user group meetings.
