The USAID Karnali Water Activity works across the Karnali River Basin in Western Nepal to promote healthy, resilient, and water-secure communities by improving water resources management practices, drinking water supply and multiple-use systems, and fecal sludge management access and treatment plants.The Major Roles;Led environmental compliance for project activities, ensuring adherence to 22 CFR 216 requirements, IEE recommendations, and Nepali environmental regulations. Managed Karnali Water’s environmental monitoring deliverables for USAID, overseeing site assessments, Environmental Documentation Forms, and construction mitigation measures as per EMMPs and EMPs. Collaborated with USAID’s MEO to ensure compliance, while providing training and guidelines on environmental procedures to staff and partners. Developed tools for project screening, compliance monitoring, and early warning systems. Coordinated with USAID, local governments, and donors on environmental regulations and safety oversight.

Local Initiatives to Reduce Impacts of Climate Change (LIRIC)- With the financial support of the European Union and Austrian Development Cooperation, ADRA together with Rupantaran and Community Development and Advocacy Forum Nepal (CDAFN) are implementing Local Initiatives to Reduce the Impacts of Climate Change (LIRIC) project in six Local Governments (LGs) namely Bardibas, Mithila, and Gaushala Municipalities, Bateshwor, Aurahi, and Bhangaha Rural Municipalities of Madhesh Province (previously called Province 2) since January 2020. The objective of the project is to enhance the resilience of poor and vulnerable populations to climate change impacts in six selected LGs of Mahottari and Dhanusha districts. The roles;Provide technical support in drafting Environment Protection and Natural Resources Management acts with following the legislative process of the LGs and to support LGs in drafting Brief Environmental Studies and Initial Environmental Examination procedural framework in Bhnagaha UM of Mahottari district and Bateshwar RM and Gaushala UM of Dhanusha district.

NCCSP Phase II is an important government-led climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction project in Nepal, with outcomes particularly focusing on the poorest and most vulnerable communities. The programme also aims to support resilient economic development opportunities in the country.- NCCSP Phase II is implementing with the technical support of Mott Macdonald and financial assistance of British Embassy Kathmandu, Ministry of Forests and Environment(MoFE)/GoN.Major Job Descriptions; Facilitate in integrating approaches and strategies of climate-resilient policies and disaster risk management in development plans/activities of Province and Municipalities. The Nepal Climate Change Support Programme (NCCSP) is government lead initiatives aiming to ensure the poorest and most vulnerable communites in Nepal are able to adapt to the effects of climate change. This is the first significant intervention on climate change adapatation in Nepal. In the first phase of NCCSP (2013-17), the programme was guided by the National Adapatation Programme of Action (NAPA) and National Framework on Local Adaptation Plans for Action (LAPA). NCCSP I implemented LAPAs in 100 village development committe covered 14 districts. Continuing these efforts and considering changed federal context of Nepal, with the technical support of UNDP and financial assistance of DFID, Ministry of Forests and Environment(MoFE)/GoN has led the implementation of NCCSP I-Transition Extension (NCCSP I-TE). Under the Transition Extension Phase, NCCSP implemented a total of 78 CRDPs in 14 local bodies in Fiscal Year 2018/19. Lead Municipality and Responsible for selection and execution of climate-resilient development plan (CRDP) in municipalities. Integrate CRDP in the municipality planning process and budget allocation (Mainstreaming CRDP into Municipality Planning process).
