Professional Civil/Structural Engineer with more than two decades extensive experience in project management and various facets of civil engineering including Green building, multi-hazard resilient infrastructures, integrated retrofitting, climate change and disaster risk management. His background includes policy development, capacity enhancement, and project planning, design, and implementation. He specializes in creating sustainable and multi-hazard resilient housing and infrastructure, as well as construction management, vulnerability and risk assessments, and retrofitting and structural design of civil engineering structures. Throughout his career, he has worked in diverse international settings, including Japan, France, and Pakistan. Currently based in Nepal, he is working closely with all level of governments authorities, municipalities, NGOs, INGOs, donor agencies, local communities, civil society organizations, and private sector entities. His professional journey began as Visiting Faculty Member at Engineering Colleges in Nepal after gaining valuable experience in metal forming about two-year tenure at Transvalor, France. Following that, worked as Senior Researcher at ISET-Nepal on DRR and Climate Change and then took on the role of Technical Director at the CoRD and involved in structural vulnerability assessments and retrofitting design, as well as the research and development of Retrofitting & Green Building Technologies. During his tenure at UN-Habitat, he led shelter support projects and involved in initiatives - Multi-hazard resilient Green Shelter for sustainable & safer shelter and Green Homes (Switch-Asia Project) aimed at promoting sustainable housing in Nepal. Working at the UKaid-NHSSP-III in Nepal, as a Team Lead (Health Infrastructure), led the Retrofitting Health Infrastructure TA program, while also providing technical support to the MoHP and the DUDBC in the development of multi-hazard resilient health infrastructures. Currently, he is associated as a lead consultant (Green Building Expert) at the World Bank, for supporting DUDBC in developing Green Building Guidelines and as a Board of Director cum Green & Resilient Infrastructure Adviser at SWNepal.Dr. Shrestha is honored to have received two prestigious national awards, the 'Nepal Vidhay Bhushan 'Ka' and 'Kha,' presented by the President of Nepal in 2008.
