As the Operations Executive at HellermannTyton South Africa, I am responsible for overseeing the comprehensive operations of the organisation, which encompasses Manufacturing, Distribution, Procurement and Maintenance. My role involves ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of these critical functions to support the company's strategic objectives. My Key responsibilities are:Manufacturing:Lead and manage the manufacturing processes to ensure optimal machine utilisation and production efficiency.Implement and monitor key performance indicators such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to drive continuous improvement.Distribution and Logistics:Oversee the distribution network to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.Manage logistics to minimize air freights and optimize the supply chain.Procurement:Strategise and manage the procurement processes to ensure the availability of high-quality materials at competitive prices.Focus on reducing obsolete and excess stock while maintaining stock turns and inventory levels.Maintenance:Ensure high Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and effective preventative maintenance schedules.Address and resolve issues related to cavities blocked and other operational disruptions.Monitor and improve the cost of poor quality to uphold HellermannTyton's standards.Ensure adherence to safety protocols to reduce Lost Time Accidents (LTA) and Lost Time Injuries (LTI).Strategic Planning and Leadership:Lead and develop senior managers reporting directly to me, fostering a high-performance culture.Engage in strategic planning aligned with the business objectives to drive growth and operational excellence.Inventory Management:Plan and approve capital expenditures to support the operational needs and strategic initiatives.Manage inventory budgeting and forecasting to ensure optimal stock levels and financial performance.

Responsible for full oversight and control over procurement and logistics functions. Purchasing (80%) and Production (20%) Procuring Internationally 70% (USA, China, France, Germany, India and Belgium) and 30% Locally. Oversight of stock holding valued at ZAR120m. Maintain relationships with key suppliers and internal customers to ensure on-time delivery of fast-moving items at the lowest possible cost whilst maintaining agreed quality standards. Participate in Management Committee (Manco) to steer the direction of the company. Maintain working capital in line with budget, maintain the customer service level of 95%, negotiate supplier contracts, and embed sustainability through supplier audits and training. Report to the Managing Director and manage a team comprising Production Planner, Inventory Coordinators, Admin Assistants and Logistics Coordinator.Key Contributions• Custodian for continuous improvement with the following interventions currently in play i.e The Glenday Sieve project, Injection Moulding value stream, Extrusion value stream mapping and Digitization which has already unlocked tremendous value in rationalizing the stock portfolio and identifying bottlenecks in the operation. • Increased market share in key focus areas in electrical and sourced low-cost raw materials. • Led the team in procuring scarce raw materials and ensured the production department did not stop due to Supply Chain shocks as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. • HTSA was the only entity in EMEA that posted double-digit growth figures in 2021 and did not incur massive air freight costs to supplement supply.• Executed procurement strategy and plan for BBBEE strategy• Ensured team's utilisation of relevant ERP module is done in a manner that ensures data integrity.• Value Stream Mapping and Glenday Sieve (Product Rationalization) implementation for Continuous Improvement.

The procurement spend was ZAR30mill per month on local and Import suppliers, with major suppliers from MSA group companies. Coordinate the raw material procurement function for the manufacturing of baking yeast. This entailed sourcing Molasses from all over the country and coordinating daily deliveries to the plant in Durban. Additionally, manage raw material stores in Johannesburg including packaging sourcing and approval process with responsibilities for the sales and operations planning. Purchasing (65%) and Logistics Manager (35%) Procuring Internationally 60% (the USA, Canada and Germany) and 40% Locally. Oversight of stock holding valued at ZAR45mil and manage a team (8) comprising Store Controllers, Raw Materials Buyer, Security Manager, Canteen Manager, Import Manager and Export Controller. Accountable to the sales, operations and distribution teams.Key Deliverables• Responsible for both international (60 %) and local (40 %) procurement.• Operate sound and transparent tendering and ordering processes.• Oversee and manage stock levels, stock storage and rotation of goods-in-transit and delivery schedules as well as service levels and quality performance by suppliers with commensurate action.• Support the development of new products with the sourcing of new ingredients and facilitating effective trials.• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards.• Manage and provide guidance to direct reports to ensure that all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines are adhered to in the execution of procurement activities.• Ensure supplier stakeholders comply with relevant regulatory requirements.• Identify, manage, and mitigate risks associated with supply chain procurement initiatives.• Manage supplier expectations by communicating implications of SCM strategy.• Facilitate development and approval of supplier negotiation plans and assess supplier readiness.

Responsible for procurement and import of raw materials for Food Ingredients from India, China, USA, and Europe. Manage a stock value of ZAR15mil (Procurement 80% and Warehouse 20%). Support senior management to achieve strategic objectives related to procurement and inventory management with a strong emphasis on maintaining optimal stock levels through ‘Just In Time’ principles and a collaborative relationship with key suppliers. Support Export Manager with all endeavours including the preparation of export documentation managed the delivery to the final customer and ensured internal controls were maintained. Report to the Financial Director with accountability to the sales, manufacturing and warehouse functions.
