An experienced intellectual property adviser with a demonstrated history of providing clients with pragmatic, business-focused advice on IP issues to meet their short and long-term goals. Highly skilled in the preparation, prosecution, and management of patent, design and trademark portfolios domestically and throughout the world. I have spent close to 30 years assisting a broad range of clients, including SMEs, universities, and large multinational corporations, in protecting their valuable IP assets and this has offered me a keen insight into the unique challenges faced by each of these organizations. The expertise I have gained in working on prosecution matters is enhanced by my experience in advising on corporate transactions and patent litigation matters. I am an avid supporter of the IP profession and am an active member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC); the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA); the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO); and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). I am a past-chair of the IPIC International Patent Practice Committee, a member and current vice-chair of the IPO Canadian Practice Committee, a member of the IPO International Patent Law and Practice Committee, a member of the AIPPI Canada Patent Committee, and a member of the AIPLA Patent Law Committee. I have represented the interests of IPIC at various meetings of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva in relation to the Patent Cooperation Treaty and the Patent Law Treaty and I am a past-member of the Canadian Patent Agents Examination Board. I have spoken at conferences in various countries in relation to intellectual property-related issues and have written articles on a number of unique aspects of Canadian patent practice.
