As a Finance Manager, was involved in day-to-day management of division with team of more than 18 persons in different functionalities like general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, treasury and reporting. Divisional core financial responsibilities include statutory IFRS and internal MIS reporting, monthly VAT filings, cash flow management (daily, monthly and long-term), budgets and vendor management. As vendors & banks have a pivotal role in the business success, brain-stormed to devise and drive different strategies in relationship management with vendors and banks-alike. Devised and implemented a well-defined SOPs and reviewed the existing accounting/costing systems along with their internal controls to ensure strengthening of procedures and controls to complement the business objectives. At the level of audit and assurance level activities, directly responsible for managing conduct of audit & assurance services undertaken by KPMG, PwC & Ernst & Young in the form of the annual statutory audit, transaction audit and internal audit. At the operational level, regularly assist Divisional-heads & project commercial teams in the review of costs and have suggested tools for cost monitoring & optimization through a process re-engineering and multiple ERP and business intelligence initiatives. At the level of human relationship management, have strived to ensure maintenance of a healthy work-life balance in the Division and nurtured an energetic work-culture by encouraging sharing of ideas and willingness to hear-out colleagues on areas of conflict. The role reports to SVPF requires me to provide assistance in evaluation of various capex proposals through capital budgeting analytical tools and in preparation and presentation board-level discussion papers.

The company is the largest independent, petrochemical distributor in the Middle East. It operates a state-of-art distribution & storage facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone of Dubai, UAE. The Company has offices in, Egypt, UK, China and India. As a part of senior management group, the main focus of my role is strategic planning, financial analysis, working capital management, business processes improvement and re-engineering, tax planning, budgeting and forecasting, MIS reporting under IFRS regulatory framework and audit management. The role also required me to liaise closely and manage independently the audit by KPMG and other local country auditors and to undertake and perform statutory financial audit (under IFRS regulatory framework) for the company at consolidated level and other local joint-ventures outside UAE, to the stage of final sign-off. I was also involved relationship management with financial institutions/banks in UAE for management of working capital finance. In addition the financial audit and management reporting, I was actively involved in the strategic function of formulating, evaluating business proposals and setting up of process flow for the new start-up Joint Ventures, including ERP implementation, in line with the JV agreements, to ensure the internal control processes are in line with the business objectives laid down by the stakeholders.

A major player as IT Value Added distributor in business of unified communication systems, including networking hardware and mass storage systems with representative and sales offices in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco.The position held in the Company was of a Finance Manager. Primary responsibilities under this role involved the monthly and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS framework and completion of statutory audit to the stage of final sign-off. Other responsibilities included setting up and implementation of internal control process for Cash flow management. I was also involved in other functionalities like evolving feasibility study and product cash flow analysis for nearly 15 product ranges across the segments. Closely worked with Product Managers in formulating the pricing strategy for the product offerings and establishing and providing of financial backing in the form of Credit Insurance from a reputed International Company. One major accomplishment was negotiation and establishment of Trade finance relationship with major international and local banks in UAE.

ELR is a part of the hospitality business under the umbrella of the Emirates Airlines Group of Dubai. Currently it is managed by the famous MMI Group in Dubai. The Company operates Franchise outlets, notably, the Costa brand with more than 50 outlets in Dubai and other Emirates. It also operates a chain of in-house developed brand restaurants outlets, primarily in Dubai Emirate. Business segments were classified into Costa and Restaurant segments. The position on ELR was of a Finance Manager for Restaurant business. The profile included assessing the weekly and monthly reporting on the outlet-wise performance and quarterly reporting to the Emirates HQ. It also included role for finalization of yearly financial statements audited by PwC and the Government Auditor appointed by the Ruler’s Court of Dubai. Actively participated in assisting senior Management in preparation of Sensitivity analysis under different economic scenarios, including feasibility studies undertaken for proposal for opening of new outlets including capex justification and calculation of equity pay-back period. During the tenure was instrumental in assisting the implementation of Fidelio Material Control (FMC) and internal control system for inventory management and control over wastages.

Schlumberger Ltd is a supplier of technology, integrated project management and information solutions to customers working in the oil and gas industry. Its business segments are Reservoir Characterization Group, Drilling Group and Production Group. I was a part of the Research and Manufacturing Division (RDM) with Head office based in Paris, France and Houston, Texas, USA and reporting directly to the Chief RDM Controller based in Houston, Texas. The RDM Group was an internal business group providing Research and Equipment facility to the On-Field Entities of the Group. The position involved Consolidating and financial reporting for 80 Research, Technological and Manufacturing Centre located across the globe from Japan, Singapore, China, Northern Ireland to Canada and USA Mainland. It involved strict guideline for monthly and quarterly reporting as the company is listed in Stock exchanges in Paris and New York using Hyperion tool of reporting. In addition to the financial reporting, I was also actively involved in non-statutory internal reporting on the Research Centre of the group-worldwide. It involved reporting and formulating financial reporting controls on the sub-projects progressions across the Centres, including monitoring the funding and usage of allocated capital and mile-stone accomplishments with stake exceeding US$ 800 Mil. The direct recipients of the report analysis included the members of the Board of director of Schlumberger Limited and its Chief Technology Officer.

It is one of the leading Transportation Companies focusing primarily on Express Courier and Logistics Services operating in the MENA Region. During the period, UAE region was undergoing a major transformation into a regional hub for the MENA Region. The turnover of the Regional UAE Office exceeded Dhs. 50 Mil.The position held in the company was of a Country Financial Accountant. The position reported to the UAE Financial Controller. Lead a team of 10 members from different functionalities of Receivables, Payables and Intercompany accountants in the monthly and weekly submission of Management accounts to the Regional IMEA Office. Also was involved in assisting the Regional Manager in Budgeting and forecasting exercises. A noteworthy accomplishment was in the form of Grade -1 Award from Corporate Audit Services of TNT-Head Office (based in The Netherlands) for highest standards of financial processes and controls across the Regional Offices in the Middle East. It was the first of the kind award received by the Regional UAE Office. I was also involved in successful implementation of SAP-R/3 module for financial reporting in UAE. Additional responsibility was to obtain quarterly tax audit certification from PwC and submission of Tax returns before the Emirates Post before 15th day of quarter-end. Non-compliance of this provision can invite stiff penal provision and fines including restriction on the visa process applications for the employees. It required me to make representation on behalf of TNT UAE before the Government Officials of Emirates Post and the Other Revenue Department Officials of Government of Dubai. In the process, successfully concluded the assessment of 6 quarterly tax submissions held pending for the last 2 years.

Tata International (TIL) is involved in the manufacture and export of finished leather goods and also acts as an export arm for Tata Group for export of chemicals and heavy engineering goods and machinery. Primary role was assisting the Vice President (VP) in conducting the Board of director meetings. I performed a role of a Company Secretary in its subsidiary company and overviewing the secretarial functions of over 16 overseas companies. Assisted the VP in evaluating the legal agreements and business proposals. During the tenure, I was successful in obtaining a Secretarial Audit Certification for the Division, the first of its kind in the company.
