I taught children at an afterschool program. I choose the curriculum and textbooks from which the students are taught. There were three 50 minute classes which were separated based on English speaking ability. Classes ranged from 11-17 students. My teaching objectives were to increase English vocabulary, enhance conversational English, and to teach them about another culture through games and activities.

Busan, Korea

I taught 22 hours per week with public school Elementary students. Classes ranged from 30-37 students. After observation by the district supervisors, my co-teacher and I won the top award for ESL teaching in Dongnae District. I also taught fellow teachers conversational English one day a week. During school breaks, I assisted in teaching English camps for the children.

I used differentiated instruction to teach 40+ gifted students a day. I coordinated and planned comprehension strategies into my lesson plans, along with multicultural perspectives. The curriculum I taught was at or above grade level equivalent for my students. Classroom management was of great importance with an open door for those families willing to be included in the student learning process. Conducted a case study with student and parent permission to help motivate and engage one of my lower performing students. Before ending my student teaching, I helped to conduct a play along with a cooperating teacher.
