I am a doer and a believer, not a marketer. I believe in the power of simplicity; in taking small steps. Here is my story:I have tracked India’s consumer economy for close to two decades. I have identified and written about the biggest consumer trends, the changing face of rural India, impact of technology on media and our lifestyles, the power of youth, influencers, social and responsible brands and our changing lifestyles. In brief I have followed the progress of India’s largest consumer companies and followed startups with equal enthusiasm even before Flipkart crossed Rs50 crore in revenues. What this means is that I am constantly interacting and picking the brains of some of the brightest people in the world, they could be top executives of large companies, founders, investors, coveted analysts and consultants.A good conversation makes a good story. I love listening to people talk about their work, their interests, hobbies and anything that they do. I hate gossip. I love facts and anecdotes.I got into journalism by chance and made it work for me by writing about things that I am familiar with – technology (I am a Master in computer management) and people – what they eat, how they spend, how they live and how they save. For the longest time I wrote on the changing landscape with emerging technologies and its influence on industries and our lifestyles. Now I am on the other side and this is how I would define my job: I work with one of the world’s largest IT companies that is changing the world and I am responsible in shaping its narrative. Here is a secret which I don’t share often– I do not have an end game or vision of where I want to be. Instead, I am enjoying the journey by following my instinct and passion.
