I am a certified teacher from Michigan with almost two decades of experience in a K-8 educational setting, 12 years as an e-Learning University instructor, and two years as an adult English Learners' teacher. I am trained in utilizing SIOP (Structured Instruction Observation Protocol) geared toward enhancing the English Language acquisition skills of English Learners both through professional development workshops conducted by the Michigan Department of Education and Pearson's online coursework. As a SIOP Trainer of Trainers, I have presented its eight relevant components and 30 features to an audience comprising of teachers and administrators involved in the education of English Learners. My two years of experience as a trainer at a major US national bank honed my skills in coaching and providing constructive feedback. Serving as a mentor teacher to new teachers at National Heritage Academies further enhanced my interest in this arena. I am a freelance writer with several writing pieces to my credit. Academically prepared with real world experiences in both education and journalism/communication, I am extremely passionate about utilizing these skills effectively to help in the education of English Learners, curriculum writing and design, and providing meaningful coaching and feedback in the capacity of a mentor, including embracing diversity. Toward this end, I participated in an in-house yearlong training program to learn best practices in providing instructional coaching and feedback.
