Ontario Dialects Project on language varieties in Toronto and across Ontario. Our research questions are: what kind of speech styles and dialects does Ontario have? What is the difference between urban Toronto and other places? How is language changing in Ontario? How are girls and guys different? This project aims to discover Ontario speech styles and dialects and to find out how language change is happening and why.Responsibilities included:*Collecting, listening to and transcribing language data*Finding interesting words, expressions and stories in the data*Organizing examples*Sorting and organizing features of language that are potentially new and/or interesting*Doing computer and library searches*Other research-oriented tasks

Part of the "Recruitment, Interviewing, & Transcription (RIT)", "Science Visualization & Design (SVD)", and "Cookbook & Food Literacy (CFL)" Committees. Collaborated in the CAN HEAL Project with the goal to improve the mental well-being of Arab immigrants/refugees in Ontario, Canada. It seeks to promote equitable, nutritious and culturally appropriate foods and leisure sports/physical activity opportunities that enhance this community’s resilience and healthful adaptation to the mainstream Canadian society. The project also aims to raise awareness about the entire immigrant community’s needs, and enable immigrants to take actions that improve their health and well-being for a cohesive and diverse community that will contribute to the prosperity of the Canadian Society.RITC:• Assisted Research Leads in conducting interviews with study participants in English and Arabic and transcribed the interviews thereafter • Summarized findings of research in key areas such as: barriers to nutrition, food insecurity, mental health, and physical activity that pertain to Arab immigrants and refugees in Ontario • Processed wide-array of data to analyze research findings • Consistently attended training sessions and workshops pertaining to Research Mixed-Methodology, Data-Analysis, Cultural Sensitivty, Interview Methodology and so forth. SVDC:• Collaborated weekly with peers to design evidence-based infographics on various topics such as mental health, physical health, and nutrition to be used on social media sites: @can.heal.project• Prepared promotional content for key partners of CAN HEAL to use on different social media sites • Collaborated with peers on the "Tawatur Relief Recipes" Flipbook to provide useful resources using culturally appropriate techniques for dealing with stress and anxiety --> https://heyzine.com/flip-book/60905ef14a.html#page/1CFLC:• Collaborated with peers to design a culturally relevent cookbook with nutritious and easy to follow recipes

I assisted the Centre for the Study of the United States (CSUS) Director with various research tasks, including working on research studies. In addition, assisted with library research, scanning, copying, and cataloguing research materials, and organizing research workshops. The position also involved assisting the Events and Program Coordinator with organizing online lectures, conferences, and workshops, creating and updating social media websites and promoting events on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
