I started my laboratory experience during my Master thesis interniship, working on Xenopus laevis and studying genes involved in Neural Crest cells migration, via mRNA and morpholino microinjections.After the degree, I continued my education winning a 4 years PhD fellowship at Scuola Normale Superiore, in the area of Neurosciences. This experience gave me the opportunity to create and develop my own personal project, allowing me to deepen the study of ageing and neurodegenerative diseases. I decided to work on the innovative ageing model Nothobranchius furzeri, assessing its suitability to study neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Fronto-Temporal dementia. This allowed me to implement state-of-the art technologies for the first time in this animal model, such as organotypic culturing, whole brain clearing and 3D imaging.These experiences allowed me to feed my endless curiosity and follow my passions, giving me freedom to discover, study and find novelties, pushing me to always give my best and research excellence through hard work and resilience. I learnt to plan and carefully organize my work and, probably most importantly, to face and overcome difficulties and drawbacks, together with developing the ability to interpret, expose and present my results in a clear and efficient manner.
