As a second year student, I tutored first year students in Anatomy

The camp is designed to exposure rural high school students to a potential career in a number of healthcare fields. As a counselor, I was responsible for over-seeing group activities, ensuring camper safety, serving as a role model, and leading group discussions. Additionally, as the overnight counselor, I stayed in the dorms with the students. I planned and carried out evening activities and was responsible for the female students during the night.

I worked in the biochemistry/pharmacology lab of Dr. Alex Brown for two summers. My role was to grow and purify the PLD1 protein, a cell signal cascade component shown to be up-regulated in several cancers. I then attempted to crystalize the purified protein for structural studies. I was also involved with performing assays with potential drug components to determine activity against the protein.
