Tech has always been a hobby for me, but I decided to go back to school at the end of 2019 so that my hobby could become my career. Since graduating from Tacoma Community College, I have worked on growing my IT skills in numerous ways.- Currently studying for the CompTIA Network+ certification- Working on my home lab, utilizing various computers sourced from decommissioned desktops, raspberry pi computers, and parts from other various projects I had available. - In addition to hardware clients on my home network I am also using VirtualBox and Hyper V to create virtual machines to serve various roles on the network. Some of these VMs are joined to Active Directory, whereas others serve as test beds so I can explore networking an cybersecurity in greater depth.- The VMs and hardware clients are a mix of Windows (7,8,10), Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019) and Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Kali, Raspbian, Mint and others)- I have been becoming more familiar with Wireshark and increasing my understanding of how packets make their way around the network and becoming more familiar with routing protocols.- Using a Metaspoitable VM I have been learning more about security vulnerabilities and how to prevent malicious activity on a network.- Increasing my familiarity with Kali Linux and its many security tools.- Keeping up with my SQL skills I acquired during my degree, creating and managing databases and presenting the data in useful and unique ways. - Building projects large and small using raspberry pi computers or other similar mini/micro board PCs. This is helping grow my troubleshooting ability as well as my skills with wiring, soldering and hardware.- I have made myself available to family and friends to troubleshoot their tech devices in order to have practice solving a wide variety of computer and tech issues.- There is too much to list here, so feel free to ask any questions you might have!
