Under the direction of Marc L. Steinberg, Ph.D., the Tobacco Research & Intervention lab focuses on tobacco use and dependence, including tobacco dependence treatment development, tobacco use in smokers with psychiatric comorbidity, the relationship between smoking and task persistence/distress tolerance, and motivational interviewing as an approach to encourage smokers to make a quit attempt.We have used human laboratory designs to study predictors of initiation of quit attempts (i.e., task persistence / distress tolerance) and clinical trials to develop treatments to encourage and facilitate quit attempts (i.e., variations of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and reduction-to-quit strategies). I supported his research project by conducting literature searches, reviewing patient files, data management and maintaining files for project Researchers.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) New Brunswick is an academic medical center whose Centers of Excellence include cardiovascular care from minimally invasive heart surgery to transplantation, cancer care, stroke care, neuroscience, orthopedics and women's and children's care.As a CCT, I worked under the direction of registered nurses on the surgical unit. I cared for an average of 20 patients per shift assisting 5-7 nurses and doctors during the peak of the COVID 19 pandemic working overtime and implementing new care and safety procedures. I routinely monitored and recorded patient vitals including blood pressure, temperature, and blood sugar levels. Some of my responsibilities included: Taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, providing patients with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care, carefully transferred patients into beds, wheelchairs, and tables using gait belts and other tools, respected patients privacy and dignity upholding all hospital policies and HIPAA regulations, and assisted in bedside procedures pre and post operation.

As VP1 at the Theta Xi chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha, I directed, designed, and facilitated weekly meetings with over 20 women on the Program's Council which included directors and chairmans from departments of activities, services, events, and sisterhood.I consulted and collaborated with the Rutgers University Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs along with the National Panhellenic team to implement new policies for the organization.
