The Electric in the Southside district of Birmingham is the UK’s oldest working cinema and is now home to sofas, a bar and waiter service. We have two digital screens and show a mixture of the latest quality mainstream, independent, foreign and classic films.Job roles include; supervisor, projection operating, tour guide and merchandise/drink advertisement designer.

The important focus of this role is creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for the visitor, whilst guiding, and being part of a functional team. The position involves significant responsibility; with the result I attained APLH Award for Personal License Holder for the sale of alcohol. This achievement took a great deal of training, covering areas such as management of health & safety, premises and staff security, as well as food and fire safely. I contribute to the maintenance of the premises, as well as being familiar with all staff roles and rotas. I operate the opening and closing procedures of the premises which includes responsibility such as banking, diligence duties, kitchen and waste management. I have organised events, staff incentives and produced creative displays for the business, which has been seen to boost revenue.
