I am a member of the Translational Neuroscience Group and I primarily work on early phase behavioral/translational studies. My primary focus is on ALS (Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis) and FTLD (Frontotemporal lobar degeneration) but I also have some experience with Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Alzheimer's disease and Schizophrenia. I am currently the Neuro Translational lead for early stage stage projects with ALS and FTD as their main indication. This means I am responsible for the study design, data collection, analysis, and presentation of these projects.I have participated in/co-authored 1 IND filing, authored >8 scientific manuscripts, four of which were 1st authorships, presented data via poster and symposium formats at SFN conferences and help lead multiple projects from early stage to late stage research and into early development programs.Lab skills I am proficient in and perform often include; Free hand ICV injection surgery, RNA extraction, qPCR, IHC, western blots, and tissue sectioning with both the sliding microtome and cryostat. I am highly skilled at running and analyzing data for a wide array of behavioral and motor tests in mice, e.g., balance beam, Compound muscle action potential (CMAP) recordings, rotarod, grip strength... and lab animal skills such as mouse injections (IS, IP and PO), mouse perfusions and dissection of spinal cord, muscle and brain, CSF and blood collections.

I was responsible for the production, characterization and maintenance of transgenic and gene knock-out mouse colonies. On average, I assisted up to 21 investigators and maintained 45+ individual colonies. Maintenance included tail biopsies for genotyping, euthanasia, retro-orbital bleeds for blood collection, anesthesia, PCR, follow-up on health cases, ear and toe clips for identification, weaning pups, and breeding set ups and take downs. While in this position I received AALAS ALAT (Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician) and LAT (Laboratory Animal Technician) certifications. I also became responsible for training new employees and cross training with the group responsible for genotyping.
