The UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centres (RCCs) support national climate action through capacity-building, technical assistance and strategic networking – sourcing know-how and resources to drive clean development for the region to reach the goals of the Paris Agreement.At RCC Kampala I coordinated processes and projects to drive climate action in East and Southern Africa. Provided operational and technical support to strategic partnerships and stakeholders engagement. Supported Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) activities to accelerate climate and empowerment action in the region, specifically youth-related activities. Lead the coordination globally of the Academy for Global Youth Leadership (AGYLE) initiative across the six RCCs, engaging and interconnecting youth in promoting climate action at a regional level.Supported the lead for the Regional Collaboration Centre for East and Southern Africa (RCC Kampala) in the strategic planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting of RCC Kampala activities. Main tasks included: • Provided substantive and operational support to organize Africa Climate Week 2021 where I was in charge of coordinating 30 affiliated events, and the first ever MENA Climate Week 2022. Mistra Urban Futures was a 10-years programme and centre for knowledge and research on sustainable urban development, successfully pioneering research and transdisciplinary collaboration in different urban settings such as Cape Town, Kisumu, Gothenburg, Sheffield/Manchester, Buenos Aires and Shimla.In my role I was responsible for:• Drafting strategic and operational documents to address wicked socio-ecological in transboundary and transdisciplinary collaboration, including responsible for gender section in the Center Progress Report to the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).• Coordinating monitoring and evaluation of comparative and local project across the six different offices located in Kenya, South Africa, Sweden, and the UK.• Conducting an in-depth assessment of existing South-North cooperation at University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology with the aim of enhanced internationalization and cooperation.• Supporting in resource mobilization by applying for grants from institutions, for example Sweden’s government agency for innovation Vinnova.• Coordinating three research networks for different actors from academia/research, practice and politics as well as business and civil society, focusing on urban food, facilitation of co-creation processes, and sustainable urban mobility.• Strengthening processes of gender mainstreaming within the organization and throughout its operations, including monitoring and evaluation of gender results in international and local urban sustainability and justice projects and networks.• Assisting in planning and implementation of events, such as lectures, lunch seminars, and international conferences.

As a part of my master, I did a 6 months internship at Mistra Urban Futures, conducting a gender analysis where I collected, compiled and analyzed data and information of processes of gender mainstreaming within research projects targeting urban sustainability issues in diverse socio-economic, environmental and geopolitical contexts. Based on the results of the report I suggested how gender issues further could be recognized, implemented and become significant parts of project design and methodology. Initiated targeted capacity building activities to increase staff understanding of how different power dynamics intersects causing a certain matrix of domination that echoes the particularities of a given time and place. Accordingly, I hosted and moderated a day with lectures and workshops on the importance of an intersectional perspective in research and practices aiming to contribute to the realization of just cities. Finally, I communicated editorials for Mistra Urban Futures on the importance of gender perspectives in urban planning.

I obtained an internship at one of the Swallows India Bangladesh’s partner organizations in India, Keystone Foundation working to enhance the quality of life and the environment with indigenous communities using eco-development approaches. The internship was financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).Tasked to evaluate Keystone Foundation’s work and policies on gender equality, I performed a beneficiary assessment and gender analysis where I used qualitative methods like desk research, semi-structured interviews and field observations. The report illuminated how Keystone currently worked with gender and staff perceptions of the importance, need and challenges incorporating gender in their daily work. Based on the result, recommendations on how to work further to strengthening processes of gender mainstreaming were made.

In collaboration with Hanoi University and its final year students in International Relations, Gothenburg University gave me the opportunity to do a field course in Northern Vietnam where I together with a Vietnamese student conducted research on the gap between gender equality government policies and its implementation in a local community consisting of ethnic minorities in the village of Tan Thoung, Ha Giang. The research project was chosen and nominated by the faculty of International Relations to perform in Hanoi University young gifted scientists.
