I set and execute the strategy to steward Education Pioneers brand with external audiences and to cultivate and secure investments from institutional philanthropy, corporate and individual donors.

As Vice President, I am responsible for developing and executing a bold and innovative vision and strategy for EP’s Programs to dramatically increase the organization’s impact and create an exceptional experience for our Partners. I lead and manage a diverse, high performing team across multiple sites in the United States. And, I serve as a member of Education Pioneers’ Executive Team along with four other organizational leaders responsible for delivering against organization-wide goals. My work includes setting near and long-term strategy, building and supporting a team through execution, fundraising and org-wide performance management.

The Sheridan Group provides services in political strategy and public policy for leading non-profits, philanthropic organizations, and social enterprises. From Bono’s ONE campaign to end poverty to Hope Lab’s technology innovations to help reduce child obesity, The Sheridan Group is a unique government relations firm in its focus on emerging social change movements. As a Director of Policy and Advocacy I was responsible for managing the international affairs and social entrepreneurship client portfolios, partnering with organizations to develop and execute their advocacy and policy strategy. Some of my clients included the ONE Campaign, America Achieves and Youth Villages.Since joining The Sheridan Group in 2006, I managed a diverse array of successful advocacy efforts. In 2007, I formed and launched the Action Group to End Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery, an unprecedented advocacy coalition comprised of diverse organizations. Within two years of formation, the coalition successfully included significant policy reform in the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which transformed U.S. government prevention and response to human trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. In 2009 and 2010, I partnered with America Forward to successfully advocate for a $50 million appropriation for the Social Innovation Fund. As part of this effort, I worked with individual social entrepreneurs and the America Forward coalition to educate policymakers on the principles of the innovation agenda and mechanisms of the Fund. I also worked with Youth Villages, a child welfare organization that implements an intensive in-home services program keeping children with their families and helping them build long-term successful paths. In September 2011, the Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act passed, which authorizes state waivers to utilize federal funding to develop innovative alternative services promoting permanency for children.

Marketing/Government Relations consultant for Contact Trust, a non profit organization in Capetown, South Africa. I trained emerging non-profits on the elements of advocacy and helped them network with S. African parliamentarians. Examples of my work included:-- Advocacy trainings for newly formed NGOs; built relationships with parliamentarians for Contact Trust’s portfolio organizations.--Developed a comprehensive policy analysis of parliamentary policy priorities to advance the agendas of Contact Trust’s portfolio organizations.--Conducted a landscape analysis of strategic coalition partners in and around Cape Town, South Africa.
