I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at West Virginia University. My research currently focuses political discourse within closed religious communities. More specifically, I use Natural language processing to understand how political discourse has changed in an Amish and Mennonite publication. Prior to my time at WVU, I attended the University of Massachusetts Boston and completed my MA in Applied Sociology. While at UMB, I gained first-hand experience in qualitative methodologies such as in-person interviews and participant observation. I currently work as a graduate research assistant for the RADx-UP Grant from the NIH. In this role I am one of the primary qualitative researchers. I primarily interview first responders regarding their, and their community's, experiences with COVID-19 and COVID-19 testing. In addition to my work with RADx-UP team, I also work with the West Virginia Prevention Research Center, housed in the School of Public Health, and am still a member of the Amish Research Team at West Virginia University.
