During my time working for the National Stroke Foundation in Melbourne, I project managed the final stage of development and early implementation of the new, web-based Australian Stroke Data Collection Tool (AuSDaT). As part of this role I produced the national stroke data dictionary to standardise data definitions for over 900 data elements to be collected by national and international registries and clinical trials, managed and consolidated the input of multiple stakeholders within the stroke clinical community in Australia, and applied technical and process expertise through the specification of complex data validations and highly technical features e.g. online reporting and data import facilities.From 1 June - 31 August 2015, I managed the Phase 1 roll out of the AuSDaT through delivery of the Australian National Acute Audit of Stroke securing over 90% participation of hospitals nationally and an unprecedented number of clinical data records.

During my time as project and later programme manager in the Royal College of Physicians, London, I designed the strategy and managed the implementation of the integrated components of a UK national healthcare quality improvement initiative – the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP). SSNAP is a longitudinal clinical audit which aims to improve the quality of care and outcomes for stroke patients. As part of this role, I secured support and advocacy for the programme from the highest levels of the NHS and the ‘buy in’ and ongoing participation of over 2,500 hospital clinicians from 100% of acute stroke hospitals in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This involved the judicious management of complex relations with multiple stakeholder including national leads in health, hospital clinicians, policy makers, managers and commissioning groups. I worked with clinical leads and advisory groups on an ongoing basis to determine priorities, ensure strong clinical leadership and develop programme strategic direction.I oversaw all stages of the audit programme delivery including question design, recruitment, data analysis, the development of over 200 bespoke reports every 3 months, and results dissemination. I managed programme finances inclusive of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. I also developed and implemented the programme communications strategy including appropriately pitched press releases taking account of political contextand priorities.As part of my role I represented the programme nationally and internationally, including via platform presentations at the World Stroke Congress (2014), the European Stroke Conference (2012) and the UK Stroke Forum (2011).
