Reports to the Director of Operations. Manages commercial recycling programs, including shingles, organics, wood wastes, and other waste streams. Investigates the development of implementing new programs at MWA. Manages the compliance program for all Metro Waste Authority facilities and the Field Compliance Specialist. Manages and administers the CAT CAES and GIS computer programs. Actively participates on Core Team in MWA’s Environmental Management System program and IMPACT program. Develop and manage EMP's for those Objectives and Targets related to commercial recycling programs.

Manages, designs, and implements the compliance program for MWA facilities; performs internal audits; performs field inspections, monitoring and sampling of MWA's environmetnal systems in accordance with regulatory requirements; maintains compliance reports and records; and performs environmental investigations dealing with soil, air, water and leachate.

Plans and implements waste management reduction and recycling programs and projects. Promotes and coordinates public and private recycling programs to include resident recycling, and commercial/industrial recycling. Assists other departments in establishing in-house waste reduction program.Serves as a liaison to recycling vendors.Promotes recycling, use of recyclable products, and markets for recycled material. Promotes recycling as a means to reduce amount of waste. Meets with and/ or makes presentations to business and community leaders. Prepares comprehensive reports detailing program activities needs, goals and objectives and related information.Develops and coordinates community awareness and outreach programs; works with citizens, businesses and public entities to enhance recycling and reduce waste; prepares and conducts presentations to neighborhood, civic business, and school groups.

Communications Intern: possess a professional demeanor, have accuracy and attention to detail and thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, team-oriented environment. Able to work independently within certain guidelines and manage multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines, and keep supervisors informed of progress. Required strong writing skills and some experience with graphic design, Adobe InDesign or other desktop publishing software, and Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Received experience in special events coordination, copywriting, community relations, advertising, project management, planning, website maintenance, graphic design, working with vendors (obtaining quotes, etc.), media relations, presentations, strategy sessions, and general administration.

Basic design/layout for web & print advertising, guerrilla marketing, research patons, basic event planning & assistance; market research, writing, develop focus group questions and manage focus group attendants, assist with other duties as assigned.
