Karst is a type of landscape that is shaped by the dissolution of soluble bedrock, leaving behind features like sinkholes, caves, and springs. I play around underground!

At the climbing wall, I work to provide visitors with prompt, front-line customer service. I regularly conduct orientations and administer waivers to first-timers. In the summer, I instruct and supervise children’s indoor camps. The most enjoyable part of my job is teaching introductory lessons to new climbers, and getting them excited about the sport.

The summer of 2016 project involved studying hydrothermal fluid and organic deposits of the North Barrel Springs locality in southeastern Wyoming. My main responsibilities involved preparing mineral samples for phase identification using analytical techniques (XRD, Raman Spectroscopy, SEM), collecting data for the creation of maps, and collecting samples in the field for further analysis.

Last summer, I lived in a field camp 130km outside of Yellowknife for 1 month, creating transect maps of a volcanic belt. I also assisted a senior geologist in gathering structural data, interpreting metamorphic textures, and distinguishing metamorphosed lithologies. Working with a team, we built, operated, and maintained a zodiac inflatable boat; set-up and sustained a 3 large field camps in the wilderness in teams of 3-5.
