Dr Sara Lucas has nineteen years experience as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, including seven years at Westmead Hospital (NSW) providing neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation services to inpatient wards including geriatric medicine, brain injury, psychiatry, neurology and neurosurgery, and also now consults to various hospitals around Adelaide.In the medicolegal arena, Dr Lucas has extensive experience and expertise in conducting assessments of individuals for CTP, TPD and worker’s compensation insurance claims, as well as providing work/parenting/decision making capacity assessments and rehabilitation reports. She sees clients for fitness to stand trial and sentencing assessments regarding cognitive and brain injury conditions. Dr Lucas has been involved in the teaching programs for Clinical Neuropsychology, Clinical Psychology and Forensic Psychology of three Universities in Sydney, and has lectured in the areas of memory and traumatic brain injury. Presently, she lectures at Brain and Mind Institute, Camperdown in neuropsychology, and runs the Adult Psychological Assessment course at University of South Australia. She has completed a Graduate Diploma in Health Law.Dr Lucas has been widely published in several peer-reviewed journals and has written on the cognitive effects of traumatic brain injury, neuropsychology test characteristics, malingering, and the effects of psychosis in young people. She has also presented at conferences and meetings in Australia and overseas.Currently, Dr Lucas is accredited as a Permanent Impairment Assessor with NSW SIRA practitioner and as an Expert Reviewer with HCCC. She is a registered provider for Return to Work SA and Lifetime Support Agency.Whilst continuing to work in Sydney in the medicolegal arena, Dr Lucas has now moved her practice to be based in Adelaide where she performs assessments for both medicolegal and clinical purposes.
