• Served and cared for indigenous Mayan families in a remote eastern Guatemalan clinic• Sutured wounds, diagnosed pregnancy, provided pre-natal care, and cared for severely malnourished children • Educated local ‘Health Promoters’ regarding care administration• Served as the sole delivery attendant during childbirth• Survived a night time boat accident in shark infested waters during a storm while evacuating an 11 year old boy to the nearest hospital. Led patient and other occupants of boat to safety from one mile offshore (and not enough life jackets)• Independently planned and coordinated a fundraiser to raise over $2,000.00 to continue working towards project goals
