l managed the Certified Reference Material laboratory while continuing to complete duties performed as a Staff Research Associate 1. Complete all aspects in the preparation of certified reference material (CRM) seawater standards. Distribute CRMs, TRIS buffer, and alkalinity titrant to customers all over the world, using various shipping companies. I process new order requests and oversee the laboratory email account. Conduct interviews with undergraduate students in addition to supervising and training all new hires. Participated in two GO-SHIP cruises as alkalinity analyst.

Assisted in most aspects of preparation of certified CRM seawater standards: washing bottles, assembling system, preparing full bottles, collecting seawater, etc. I packaged orders of CRMs, TRIS buffer, and alkalinity titrant. Focused on laboratory cleanliness and safety and took stock of laboratory inventory and placed new orders.

I was an analyst for the inorganic chemistry team monitoring the water quality from drinking water treatments plants, recycled water plants, groundwater samples, and reservoirs. I analyzed water samples, prepared quality control standards, calibrated/troubleshot instruments, entered and validated sample data using LIMS. I participated in external laboratory audit and conducted internal audits. I assisted in updating laboratory SOPs to account for new instrumentation, procedures, and standard regulations. Monitored inventory, organized/cleaned laboratory, safely disposed of chemical waste. Kept notes of all chemicals used for analysis and any maintenance to instrumentation.

Tutored two young children on their schoolwork and helped them navigate zoom classes and online learning.

Water quality monitoring in Morro Bay Estuary and San Luis Obispo Bay. Organized and led field sampling campaigns; collected gas sensitive water samples using Niskin/CTD. Laboratory analysis of water samples for DIC, Alkalinity and pH. Maintenance and programming of lab instruments using LabVIEW. Analyzed data using excel and MATLAB, examine relationship to tide and location of sample.

Delivered food, drinks and bills to customers. I helped with cleaning of establishment; changed kegs and propane tanks regularly. Excelled working as a part of a larger team and during busy shifts that demanded I was constantly on my feet.

I worked part-time over my summer break in 2016 and 2017. Cared for a range of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, and a ferret. Fed and walked animals’ multiple times a day (as needed), and assisted with bathing animals. Helped with routine cleaning of facility. Experience of working in a stressful & hectic environment.

Hands on experience with instrument maintenance. Replaced circuit boards and LED lights within instruments; proficient at soldering to remove and attach various materials. Maintained organization of materials and instrument manuals.
