I applied again for this position after holding it for a year. I changed grade level because of need within the program but held the same general responsibilities of overseeing the group.

I advanced from the year before and applied for a staff position within the program. In this position I was in charge of a specific grade and served as a management person for the group of fourth graders as well as their assigned college mentors. I had to keep track of and inform the mentors of their assigned activity dates and topics. In this position, I was also able to form relationships and connections which each of the little buddies rather than focusing only on one.

I was assigned to a little buddy within the program, Erika, that I met with once a week for 2 hours throughout the school year. We were in a group of about 20, each second grader was assigned to a college mentor. The college mentors take turns planning educational and inspirational activities for the meeting days where our group would look at different aspects of campus and college life to provide motivation for the little buddies to continue their education after high school.
