Our department does have a union under which half of our employees are covered. As such, I assist with contract negotiations, application of the agreement, responding to employee grievances and maintain communication with the union representatives. I am well-versed in the application of FMLA, ADA, Worker's Compensation and our Parental Leave. Our agency has very complex situations involving leave use based on the essential functions within our 24/7 systems. I serve as an advisor to our facility leaders and HR professionals when determining what steps to take when navigating multifaceted leave requests. Finally, I am responsible for reviewing and updating our departmental Human Resource policies to ensure we are adhering to state and federal laws, complying with bargaining agreements, consistently applying discipline and hiring practices across our organization while ensuring we are also providing growth and development opportunities to our workforce.
