I shadowed a prenatal and cancer genetic counselor at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. I was able to sit in on patient's appointments with the genetic counselor, view and see how to construct patient's reports, sit in on ultrasounds of patients that I was able to see with the genetic counselor, view an amniocentesis, and learn how to draw a pedigree based on the patient's family history. Shadowing in Maternal Fetal Medicine of Spartanburg Regional I was able to see a large amount of high risk pregnancies and was shown how to go about delivering all different types of news, good and bad, to the patients.
