Even from a young age, the imaging field was in my future. When I was 10, My mother had taken me and my older brother (12) down to Minneapolis to The Children’s Minnesota Hospital. My brother suffered from chronic back pain. He met with multiple specialists, and one of them recommended he have a Nuc Med Study. After his scan was completed, I convinced him that his head would explode if he put any metal in his mouth, and his pee would glow if he turned off the lights. The next day we met with his doctor who diagnosed him with degenerative disc disease. While he was visiting with the doctor, my brother told the doctor his pee did glow after the scan. The doctor looked at him sideways and gave me a wink when he saw me giggling. Still to this day, I get a good chuckle when my brother or family call me for advice in the imaging field.I love what I do, and I am always looking to advance myself in the field. I have been able to do this by supporting my team. I provide them with educational resources to gain knowledge and skills. This empowers them, which empowers me as their leader.
