I decided to a major in social science with a double minor in gender studies and music in order to most effectively use my voice for change. While perusing my undergraduate degree at Stetson, I engaged in volunteer work regarding social justice. I started as program coordinator for Stetson’s National Organization for Women, and I also helped found Stetson’s Peer Advisory Council for Title IX, for which I served as Student Coordinator. After graduation I accepted a position at a non-profit community mental health center in rural Florida. I served as a Prevention Coordinator, working with elementary school students to develop positive mental health habits. In January 2021 I was hired for my current position at Stetson University where I work with several aspects of domestic and sexual violence prevention, including student conduct policy, victim services, law enforcement, and targeted and comprehensive prevention education. My favorite part of my job is working with the student leaders of Peer Advisory Council for Title IX, who has now become the face of Stetson’s award winning violence prevention programming. I also serve on the on call (crisis response) team at Stetson.
