Develops grant strategies for one of the nation’s largest community foundations. Develops relationships with community residents, corporate leaders, board members and staff of diverse organizations as well as elected officials and other thought leaders, to promote the Foundation’s responsiveness to community needs. Exercises due diligence and develops policy, program and grant recommendations to support the distribution of more than $25 million per-annum in grants. Manages the Foundation’s Community Schools Initiative (formerly, the After-School Initiative) in addition to an extensive portfolio of regular capital, capacity-building, and program grants.

Design, development and supervision of initiatives in FMS’ Families and Children Program Area including its Public Policy Program, “Faculty Fellows" (leadership development) Program, the Mid-South Family Alliance (a tri-state network engaged in cooperative fund development, program development, and advocacy), Technical Assistance Services, and “Unfinished Business” (a special initiative addressing issues of race and class in the Mid South). Developed strategic frameworks for related institutional decision-making; substantial partnership and team building; faith-based program development; donor relations and communications; grantmaking; staff development; budget management; and coordination of a national advisory board. Supervised four highly talented program officers and one program assistant. Represented FMS on various boards and special initiatives.
