Sara Trela has over 20 years of experience in engineering and program management. She is currently the Boeing USAF E-7A Radar/EWSP Program Manager, responsible for managing a key supplier, Northrop Grumman. In this role, Sara is responsible for the development of the Radar and Electronic Warfare Self-Protection Systems, FAA/Military certification of the systems, maintaining financial performance and executing to the program schedule. Prior to this role, Sara was the Integration and Test Senior Manager for the KC-46 RVS 2.0 team, leading the team through preliminary and critical design reviews and multiple complex development flight tests to demonstrate and evaluate RVS 2.0 capabilities. Prior to that, Sara was the KC-46 Japan Chief Engineer leading the integration, certification, and verification of the Japan KC-46 configuration. Previous to this position, Sara was the Comm/Networks and Aircraft Hardware Product Team Lead on P8, managing a spiral development joint effort between Boeing and the Navy. Sara spent five years on KC-46 previously, working in several roles, including STC EWIS Lead and AROCDU Equipment Manager.Prior to that, Sara spent eight years on AEW&C, with roles of increasing responsibility, including Radar Acting Manager for Peace Eagle and Radar Collaborative Study lead. In 2014, Sara graduated from the Engineering Excellence Career Partnership (EECP), a program to help accelerate development of skills and experience needed to grow future engineering leaders. In 2013, Sara graduated from the BMA Emerging Leaders Development Program (ELDP) which was devoted to developing high performance future leaders of The Boeing Company through special projects, assignments, mentoring, and training. Prior to Boeing, Sara worked as a Systems Engineer at UTC Power. She was the Systems Team Lead for PureComfort Cooling, Heating and Power project and in this capacity led a team of engineers. Sara completed a M.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University. Sara lives with her husband, John, in Seattle. They have a thirteen-year-old daughter, eleven-year-old son, and a border collie that keep them busy.
